22 Weeks!

This week marks 22 weeks...only 18 weeks left to go! Nugget is the size of a small doll this week and is about 8 inches long and weighs about 1 lb!! Baby A is grabbing now, touching whatever he can grab (usually the umbilical cord) and is starting to see dark and light. We hit a milestone this week and bought Nugget's crib! We had some coupons and decided to put them to use...it should be delivered in the next week or so. I thought since we were in Phoenix for the week it was appropriate to take my weekly bump picture in front of a mountain :)
Derc and I went to Phoenix this week with Sarah, Justin and Jordan to visit my Dad's side of the family and had a blast! The boys went golfing with my Uncle Craig and Sarah and I hung out with the ladies, went shopping, grabbed lunches, laid in the sun and had a baby/bridal shower! My cousin, Stacia, is getting married in a few weeks so our family threw us a combined baby and bridal shower on Tuesday night. We had a great time gettting together and Baby A got a lot of great stuff!! Derc and I are super excited (ok...mostly I'm excited) to do laundry and get Nugget's wardrobe folded and put away for when he arrives. Woohoo!! Luckily I had plenty of women at the shower to give me advice on what I'm supposed to do with the gifts they gave (is this a teether or a toy? When swaddling the baby, remember to leave the head out of the swaddle :) ) The boys went go-carting at a pretty sweet in door course (as you can see from the pictures above, they had to wear helmets). The picture of Sarah pushing her son, Jordan, in a wheelchair is from a shopping trip. Sarah and I waited outside of the store while my grandma and aunt ran in to grab some things. Jordan got sick of his stroller and wanted a change of scenery so he convinced Sarah to put him in the wheelchair and push him around....needless to say, I couldn't resist taking a picture (Sorry Sarah!), haha!
Anyway, we had great weather in Phoenix and a nice time with family, so hopefully we'll get back sometime soon! We are back in DM now, and have the weekend off so we'll see if we do anything productive or just get caught up on some R&R.
Happy early Cinco de Mayo!!

21 Weeks!

Woohoo, we passed the half way mark! 21 weeks this week, time is flying by now. Over the weekend Derc and I checked out some stuff for Baby A's nursery. We found a crib set and some bedding that we liked so we were excited about that! I spent some time online registering for some items which is always fun :) Luckily I've got my mom and sister to call with questions on, Do I really need this? How many of these will I go through? Or just, what the heck is this thing?! They have been helpful to say the least! This week Mr. Nugget is the size of a large banana (lengthwise) and weighs about 10 ounces. This is the first week that Derc really got to feel his son give a good kick to my belly. Our little guy is most active at night and early in the morning...I'm pretty sure he was running laps or warming up for the Olympics the other night when Derc got to feel him moving. It was a fun experience for Derc :)
Mack has been enjoying the nice weather with us, we've gotten him out to run around at the park a lot recently, which he loves! He got some good pics with Mom and Dad while out on a recent walk. We're trying to love him up a lot so he doesn't get depressed when Baby A comes along and he's no longer the center of attention.
Unfortunately on Sunday Derc's grandmother, Sandy, passed away from cancer. Derc, Cory, Laura and I headed down to IL for the visitation and funeral services. It was nice to see that side of the family as we don't get a chance to see them often, but under unfortunate circumstances. Derc is hanging in there, and he's very happy he had a chance to speak with her on the phone for a while a few days before she passed.
Well, that's about it for now. We're headed to Arizona next week with Sarah, Justin and Jordan to see my dad's side of the family! We're all very excited to see them and enjoy the nice weather :)

20 Weeks!

Well, here is the 20 week pic......must have really popped recently because people at work who may not have realized I was pregnant are flat out asking if I'm pregnant now :) I'm taking that as a sign that I'm getting big.

This week I got to have a relaxing day with friends, i went shopping with Kerry and Michele, grabbed lunch and got a pedicure! It was great, and a nice way to relax! Saturday evening I got to go dinner with Lynnette and we enjoyed some Mexican!

Derc got to see a few friends over the weekend as well, he went to a 'Daddy Diaper Party' on Saturday evening. His friend from work, Ben is having a baby and a bunch of Ben's friends got together for a 'Guy's night' before he becomes a dad, which could be any day now!

Now that we know we're having a boy I have been online non-stop trying to find bedding and nursery decor.....needless to say, Derc and I aren't agreeing on everything that we need to buy. Oh well...we have time to decide!

Well, today was the day, and what a fabulous day it was!! We are 20 weeks along, halfway through the pregnancy!! We also found out we're having a baby boy :) The Dr. said that everything checked out great with both mom and Baby A. This week Nugget is the size of a canteloupe! We got to spend about 25 minutes today watching Baby A float around in his home, he was pretty active, moving all around, waving, punching, kicking, sucking his thumb, grabbing his feet and grabbing some other boy parts :) The Dr. thought his heart looked strong, and his heartrate was 167. I now understand why it is so quick after seeing how much he moves around. We got to see all of his limbs, fingers, toes, spine, brain, heart, kidneys, boy parts, and face. It was pretty surreal to say the least. Once they click it into 3-D it gets even crazier! You can absolutely tell it's a little baby, and even though his face isn't fully formed yet, you still get a pretty good idea of what he looks like. We are pretty excited, Derc was ecstatic to say the least, he couldn't take his smile off his face. He's so happy he'll have someone to teach all of his favorite hobbies to and have a little mini-me to follow in his footsteps.

After our doctor appointment we got to go shopping and buy some clothes for Nugget....his Dad bought him a Chiefs onesie :) He's trying to convince him which team to pick early on. We went out to eat tonight to Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate and met up with Ben and Kyli (Ben and Derc worked together and Kyli is about 37 weeks pregnant) and had a great time with them!

This weekend we have some fun plans we're looking forward to so we should be able to kick back and relax!

19 Weeks!

This week marks 19 weeks - almost half way! This week Baby A is the size of a large mango, which is about 6 inches long and almost a half pound of weight! This week the baby is forming a greasy film called Vernix caseosa on it's skin. Super yummy, I know. It's to protect the baby's skin from the amniotic fluid. Bet you didn't know you were going to get a science lesson today :) Lately we have been feeling Baby A move around quite a bit. Derc is able to feel it from the outside now too which is pretty cool. He doesn't like it when I poke my belly to try and get the Baby to move....he keeps telling me I'm going to dent lil' nugget. I think it's pretty safe in there.
Derc and I can hardly wait for next Thursday....don't bother trying to get a hold of us between 1:30-3 next Thursday - we'll be in the Dr.'s office finding out if Baby A is healthy, growing at the right pace and if he or she will be wearing lots of blue or pink :) CAN'T WAIT! We're really just hoping that nugget is healthy and is on track to be a happy baby.
The past few weeks Derc has been getting back into the golfing mode. He ordered some new clubs this year, which he is pretty excited about, they should be arriving today! He's got plans to golf all weekend and then watch the masters to inspire him :)
I got to spend some time with my MN family since I traveled up there for work this week. It was fun to see my grandparents and David, they are always willing to let me crash there for a night.
Well, more to come next week, have a great weekend!!

Happy Easter!! Derc and I had a nice weekend together, something that is rare with me having to work weekends all the time! We had my Mom and Pete come down from Cedar Rapids on Saturday. Derc, Pete, Cory and Doug went golfing all day Saturday while my Mom spent some quality time with the mall :) I wish I could have joined but I did have to work on Saturday since it was such a busy day in the retail business. Saturday night we went out to dinner and the hung out at the house. Sunday my Mom and I cooked a nice Easter dinner! My first ham was a success (thanks for the help, Mom!) and since I had no idea how big of a ham to buy we will be eating leftovers for a week and we still won't eat all that was left.

We're still counting down to our appointment, 10 days and counting!

18 Weeks!

18 Weeks this week! Definitely starting to feel the tummy expanding now. This week marked the first week I wore maternity pants to work. Some of my pants still fit, but not very comfortably. It's difficult to keep those pants up when you have to wear a walkie and PDA on your belt!

Baby A is the size of a sweet potato this week and is staying busy moving around, sucking it's thumb, kicking, punching and hiccuping. I'm not really feeling the movement yet. I think I feel something every now and then, so I stop and try to push on my belly to feel it and then of course it stops and I can't decide if it is the baby or my meal digesting :) We are counting the days until 4/15, just two weeks from today! Also, shortly after that we're headed to Arizona with Sarah and Justin to visit family, so a lot to look forward to in the end of April!

Life hasn't been too crazy lately at the Albrecht household. It is GORGEOUS this week, it's supposed to hit about 80 degrees today!! I'm loving it, and so is Mack since he is getting out for long walks now. Derc has been able to get out and go golfing a few days recently which he loves.

This weekend my Mom and Pete are coming to visit for Easter. It will be good to see them and spend some time with them!

Have a happy Easter!
